Vernon R. “Randy” Hurley, 72, of LaPorte, Indiana, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017.
Randy was born August 17, 1945 in LaPorte, Indiana.
On August 27, 1966 in LaPorte, Indiana, he married Patricia J. “Jennifer” Hines who preceded him in death on November 29, 2012.
Randy served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam war. Randy was a photographer for the base newspaper and had the honor of accompanying president Nixon whenever he visited the base.
He took photos for the encyclopedias Britannica and Colliers and graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He also worked for 25 years in pest control and then as an Insurance agent with National Association of the self-employed.
He is survived by a daughter, Christa (Mark) Lazarz of LaPorte, Indiana; a son, Eric (Tia) Hurley of LaPorte, Indiana; a grandson, Jonah Lazarz; and a granddaughter, Maggie Hurley.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille and Jonah P. Harkleroad.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana. Dr. Rod Nielsen will officiate.
