A Tribute to Aunt Dorothy.
I have heartfelt grief to learn of Aunt Dorothy’s recent death, yet at the same time celebrate that she believed in Jesus as her Lord and Savior from sin and death. I confidently believe that she now is at rest and enjoying eternal joy in heaven with other believers, where God tells us in Revelation 21:4 (ESV)4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Aunt Dorothy took care of my Grandma for many years until Grandma died. She provided Grandma a level of care that a hospital could not hold a candle to, in terms of loving care.

From the time I can remember, I had very good memories of my Aunt Dorothy. At holiday times, we celebrated Christmas and Easter and perhaps a few other holidays at the Zirzow household on 305 D Street. We all fit around the large family table that was a central point of the home.

One fond memory I have is of the little ramp walkers that she would get for us kids (Bruce, Pam, and I) at Christmas in early years. I can remember her finding just the right string and buttons for counterweights to allow them to walk on a flat card table. She got such a tickle out of watching us kids with these new toys.

She most often had that special smile that seemed to be such a part of who she was, which could be seen in many photos of her.

She, to me, reminded me of the model of a Christian woman, loving, kind gentle, soft spoken. I can never actually remember any harsh words she had for anyone. Although she reflected these Christ-like qualities, she realized that it was “faith in our Lord Jesus Christ” that provided her with confident hope of life eternal that Jesus offers to all of us, if we allow him to come into our hearts.
