Irene Stella (Gardner) Battershall

Irene Stella Battershall, 97, of Door Village passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014.

She was born October 1, 1917 in Mason City, Illinois to Stella and Sidney Gardner. She grew up in Decatur, Illinois, then moved to Chicago in 1937. She married Charles Battershall in 1944 and the couple moved to Door Village, Indiana in 1957 when Austenal (Howmet Alcoa) moved from Chicago to La Porte in 1956.  Charles preceded her in September of 1997.  

Irene was a homemaker, an active member of the Door Village community and Door Village United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son James (Barbara) Battershall of Spring Hill, Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm Friday October 31, 2014 at Door Village United Methodist Church with Pastor Chris Tiedeman officiating.
