Winifred R. (Dreiner) Kolar

Winifred R. Kolar, 98, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Monday, November 15, 2021. 

Winifred was born Thursday, March 15, 1923, in La Porte to Jacob and Rose (Mizar) Dreiner and resided here all her life. 

On July 5, 1947, she married George E. Kolar who preceded her in death on September 17, 2007.  Winifred and George were married 60 years.

Winifred was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She also worked many years as a legal secretary and was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Catholic Church.  She was a Cub Scout Leader, an avid swimmer who also enjoyed oil painting, reading, traveling and was a member of the YMCA.

Winifred is survived by her daughters, Lynn A. Kolar of La Porte, Joan M. (Robert) Pisto of Comox, British Columbia, Canada; sons, David J. Kolar of La Porte, Michael D. (Helen) Kolar of Naperville, Illinois, Jan E. (Judy) Kolar of Wall Lake, Iowa; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timothy J. Kolar; sisters, Rosemary Sauers, Gertrude Boklund, Dorothy Hofherr, Jessie Bancsi; and brothers, Donald, Daniel, and Arthur Dreiner. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2021 at Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Catholic Church in La Porte. Reverend Nate Edquist will officiate.  Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery.
