William "Wild Bill" Martensen

William Lee “Wild Bill” Martensen, 66, of La Porte, Indiana died Friday, December 25, 2020.  Bill was born on January 16, 1954 in La Porte to Herbert Henry Martensen of Lake Conroe, Texas, and the late Geneva Ruth Borders.

Bill leaves behind a sister, Mary Wilson of South Bend; brothers, Wendell Martensen of La Porte and Wayne (Bonnie) Martensen of Vandalia, Michigan; and his lifelong partner, Joanie Wilhelm of La Porte. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, and sister, Linda Martensen.

Bill was a proud member of AA and was sober for 32 years. He was a welder by trade and traveled to 48 states with his job. He loved to take care of and raise horses. Bill was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back.  He served his country in the United States Army. Bill was a man who loved Jesus very much and praised his name and gave him thanks every day.

Cremation has taken place with Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Salem Chapel United Methodist Church.
