Virginia H. (Shepherd) Taylor

Virginia H. (Shepherd) Taylor, 89, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023. Virginia was born July 6, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Sidney Ross and Helen Ida (Schultz) Shepherd.

On May 3, 1952, Virginia married John “Jack” Taylor who preceded her in death on December 3, 2019. Virginia was a graduate of La Porte High School Class of 1952. After raising her children, Virginia worked for the La Porte School Corporation for 20 years as a substitute teacher's aide in the Special Education Dept. She also was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Church.

Virginia is survived by two daughters, Debra Kehoe of Dyer, Indiana and Patricia Cundiff of Lexington, Kentucky; two sons, Steven (Ella) Taylor and Jeffrey Taylor, both of La Porte, Indiana; nine grandchildren, Jason Gorman, Todd (Alicia) Gorman, Amy Gorman, Tara Bowling, Taylor (Beth) Cundiff, Janelle (Aaron) Taylor, Jayton (Abby) Taylor, Cole and Eli Taylor; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; a little son, Donald in 1969; and a sister, Sylvia Shepherd.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Private burial will take place at Pine Lake Cemetery.
