Terry Busse Obituary

Terry A. Busse, DVM passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024 in La Porte.

He was born on November 22, 1943 in Hanna, Indiana to the late Carl and Lorraine (Rosenbaum) Busse. Terry married Dianna L. (Ragland) Busse on January 10, 1971. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2018.

Surviving is a son, Terry E. Busse of La Porte, Indiana, grandchildren, Terry E. Busse, Jr and Collin S. Busse both of Valparaiso, Indiana; and a brother Mark (Peggy) Busse of Hanna, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Lynn (Jean) Busse.

Terry graduated Purdue University in 1968 with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. While at Purdue he was active in the ROTC Air Force.

Doc loved being active. He enjoyed working at the farm, practicing veterinary medicine for over 56 years including his own practice that he opened with his wife, serving the community from 1971 to 2006 when he kind of “retired”. He loved working in his yard with his “antique” Grasshopper lawn mower.

He was always good for telling stories about his experiences and kept everyone looking forward to his next story. He was the ultimate resource for his family and friends as he was not just a veterinary expert but knew almost everything about anything!

He was especially proud of his grandsons and the young men they are becoming. Terry is pursuing his degree and playing baseball while Colin has started his own business.

He was an avid Bulls, Sox, Bears, and Blackhawks fan, even though his beloved Sox were beyond horrible this year. He enjoyed his antique John Deere tractors and recently was getting into classic cars. He could never say no to delicious homemade desserts and definitely did not let his diabetes get in the way!

He is survived by his other kids, Spring Soliel, (his loyal Jack Russel) and Mozambique, (his African Grey parrot,) and his granddog Koa Nani, (a Doberman), he affectionately called Big Jerk Dog.

He touched so many lives and made lasting impacts on everyone he met. There is a huge void in the hearts of all that knew and loved him. He was truly loved by so many and will be missed terribly by everyone.
