Scott Alan Ford, a cherished soul known affectionately as Scotty by friends and family, passed away on November 27, 2025, at the age of 64 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Born on January 23, 1961, in La Porte, Indiana, to the late Merl Morgan (Pete) Ford and Shirley Jean (Green), Scott's life was one marked by kindness, selflessness, and a passionate commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
Scott grew up in La Porte, where he attended La Porte High School, demonstrating his love for sports as a dedicated baseball player. His academic journey led him to Ball State University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree that would serve as the foundation for his future endeavors. Scott's professional life was characterized by a successful career in logistics, but it was his role as an instructor at Ivy Tech at the Westville Correction Facility that he felt his true calling was fulfilled. There, Scott made an indelible impact on the lives of inmates, believing deeply in the power of education and second chances.
His involvement in community organizations such as the Polish Falcons, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the La Porte County Democratic Club reflected his commitment to civic engagement and his love for his hometown.
Scott's interests extended beyond his professional and community service. An avid animal lover, he considered his dogs not just pets but family. His dedication to rescuing dogs was a testament to his compassionate nature, and the many dogs he saved over the years found not just a caretaker but a true friend in Scott.
He is survived by his brother, Kevin Ford (Sarah) of La Porte, and his beloved niece and nephew, Abby (Jordan) and Zach (Alyssa) Ford, who will continue to honor his legacy of generosity and kindness. Scott's life was enriched by the love and companionship of his girlfriend, Lori Daniels of Valparaiso, and he is fondly remembered by his former wife, Judith Ford of Texas. Scott's life was one of purpose and passion, and those who knew him were touched by his unwavering dedication to bettering the lives of others.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will live on in the countless lives he influenced.
