Robert Joseph Bernacchi

Robert Joseph Bernacchi was born on April 18th, 1927, in Laporte, Indiana. During his childhood he spent his time farming, fishing, hunting, & participating in shenanigans with his 6 brothers.  

His many accomplishments: serving in the US Army, Golden Gloves champ for three years, and went to Michigan State with a degree in Horticulture. Using his degree, his father & brothers created a successful greenhouse business, which was one of the largest in the Midwest. His specialty was growing blooming plants. He served as Vice President of the Ohio’s Florist Assoc & was a noted speaker on behalf of the Indiana & Michigan Floral Assoc & received the Indiana Gower award in 1987. 

He married the love of his life, Ruth & he was the father to five children (Billy, Bobby, Becky, Tim, & John),  10 grandchildren, & five great grandchildren.

They built their forever home in Daytona Beach in 1996. Bob could never stay idle. He served as the president of Lions Paw Grand HOA for over 10 years. Bob’s outgoing personality, positive attitude always made you feel good about yourself & was one of his many great attributes. He was a great friend to all he met throughout the years. He will be missed.

He cherished his family & was a devoted husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. 

Private service will be held at Pine Lake Cemetery in the near future.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel in La Porte.
