Richard W. Griffin

Richard W. Griffin, 85 of La Porte, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, peacefully in his home surrounded by family.

Richard was born on May 5, 1939 in Hanna, Indiana to the late William Clarence Griffin and Hazel Irene (Gasper).

Richard retired from the City of La Porte as a Mechanic. He had also worked at several golf courses.

He loved old cars and attending car shows. He collected old coins and old cars. In the yard he would gather sunflower seeds and replant them for the next season.

On February 7, 1960 Richard married the former Gertrude Miller who survives and just celebrated 65 years of marriage, with their children, Ricki Ledgerwood and her husband Kevin of La Porte, Danita Miller and her late husband, Roger of La Porte, Dennis Griffin of La Porte, Sarah Cornell and her husband Gary of La Porte; grandchildren, Johnathon Ledgerwood, Justin Ledgerwood, Jamena and Ryan Lake, and Scott Griffin; great grandchildren, Payton, Xander, Taylor, Myles, Shaddix, Thadeous, Sebastian, Ryder, and Ryese; and siblings, Dennis Griffin, Kenny Griffin, and Bessie Miller.

He was preceded in death by siblings, Ethel, William Jr., Juanita, Howard, Janet, and Jimmy.

Cremation has taken place with Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
