Richard N. Arndt

Richard N. Arndt, 82, of La Porte, Indiana passed away peacefully Monday, October 9, 2023 surrounded by friends and family.

Richard was born January 27, 1941, in La Porte, Indiana to the late Richard N. Arndt, Sr. and Frances Galko.

On September 14, 1968, Richard married Sandra Kampf and they remained side by side for 55 years until his passing.

Richard is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Erik Arndt; sisters, Patricia Chambers of La Porte, Indiana and Deborah (William Bailey) Tharp of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Irma Cizewski and Sandra Scalf.

Richard was a meat cutter with Al’s East Grocery Store for more than 40 years, after which he enjoyed interacting with players and co-workers as a dealer at Blue Chip Casino for nearly the next 20 years.  When not working, Richard enjoyed coaching a variety of sports, taking charge of baseball, soccer and basketball teams for both boys and girls sports over the years. 

An animal lover, he will undoubtedly be greeted in the after-life by a multitude of dogs, a few cats, and with one very grateful squirrel.

Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. 

Private burial will be at Pine Lake Cemetery.
