Rachel Ann (Plotner) Tatman

Rachel Ann Tatman, 99, of Union Mills, Indiana passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021.

Rachel was born November 22, 1922, in Plymouth, Indiana to the late George and Flora (Crabb) Plotner.

On November 23, 1945, Rachel married Melvin Tatman who preceded her in death on September 15, 1999.

Rachel graduated from Hanna High School.  She worked in the dietary department for Westville Correctional Center for 30 years.  She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in La Porte, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.  Rachel enjoyed fishing, cooking, baking, and was an avid Cubs fan.

Rachel is survived by nieces, Dorothy Biller of La Porte, Loretta King of La Porte; nephews, Tom Plotner of Nipomo, California, James Alfred Plotner of Illinois; and a special friend, Cathy Thomasino of La Porte.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Melvin; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Buck and Irene Pollard; three brothers, Alfred, Ernest, and Wilbur Plotner; half-sister, Errie Smith; two stepbrothers, Bob and Harold Heiman; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm, Sunday, January 2, 2021, at Faith Baptist Church, 933 Nursery Road, La Porte, Indiana 46350. Funeral services will begin at 2:30 pm following the visitation in the church. Burial will follow at Union Mills Cemetery. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
