Patricia Kindig Obituary

Patricia Marie Kindig, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, at the age of 88 in her hometown of La Porte, Indiana.

Born on October 17, 1936, in La Porte to the late Fred and Charlotte Brooks, Patricia's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the warmth of a caring heart. Patricia, known affectionately as Pat to her friends and family, shared a beautiful and enduring love with her husband, Gerald Kindig. They were married on August 23, 1958, and their partnership was blessed with many joyful years and a loving family. Gerald remains to honor her memory and continue the legacy of love they built together.

A devoted mother, Patricia's nurturing spirit will be carried on through her children, Cindy (Randy) Gillen of La Porte, Diane Davis of La Porte, Becky (John) Skibinski of Michigan City, and Jerry (Patti) Kindig Jr of La Porte; and Joe Davis. Her legacy will also live on through her numerous cherished grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. Patricia's family was the center of her world, and she was the steadfast anchor in their lives.

Patricia's commitment to her family was matched by her dedication to her community. She was employed with Garwood Orchards and Bernacchi’s Farm Market for many years, where her work ethic and caring nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her. Her involvement in the community was a reflection of her generous spirit and her desire to contribute to the well-being of those around her.

Patricia's interests were as varied as they were fulfilling. She and Gerald were known as snowbirds, enjoying the best of both worlds by spending half the year in Jupiter, Florida, and the other half in La Porte. This lifestyle allowed them to embrace new experiences while staying grounded in their roots. Patricia had a passion for playing cards, which brought her much joy and laughter through the years. Her love for gardening was evident in the beautiful blooms that surrounded her home, and her enthusiasm for garage sales was unmatched, always on the lookout for hidden treasures.

Above all, Patricia will be remembered as a kind, loving, and giving mother and grandmother. Her family will fondly recall her gentle guidance, her unwavering support, and the countless ways she enriched their lives. Patricia's character was the epitome of loving, kind, and generous, and these words will forever resonate with those who were fortunate enough to know her.
