Mary Ellen (Suennen) Carrera

Mary Ellen Carrera, 76, of Union Mills, Indiana past away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Porter Regional Hospital in Valparaiso.

Mary was born on September 8, 1943 in Havre, Montana to the late Peter and Leona (Armitage) Suennen.

On December 19, 1964, she married the love of her life, Pete S. Carrera.  

Mary is survived by her husband, Pete S.; sons, Peter Christopher  (Michele) Carrera of Anderson, Indiana and Louis Paul Carrera of Union Mills, Indiana; grandchildren, Dylan, Derek, Jacob, Austen, Nick, and Tony; and several nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Roger and Paul English. 

Mary graduated from Indiana State University and was a school teacher at Myer Elementary in Portage.  She later served as a housewife for many years at their farm in Union Mills.  She was an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church in Union Mills and enjoyed spending time with family and friends from Clinton, (IN) Union Mills, and Englewood. (FL) Mary was never a stranger to anyone and always looked forward  to getting to Florida before winter set in.  

Cremation has taken place with arrangements being entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. The family has chosen to have a Celebration of Life at a future date.
