Margaret Lorraine Jones

Margaret “Lorraine” Jones, 92, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away peacefully but unexpectedly at home on Monday, December 20, 2021.

Lorraine was born February 16, 1929, in New Carlisle, Indiana to the late Irvin Floyd and Mary Jane (Hostetler) Haag. Lorraine married Robert “Bob” Jones on June 17, 1950.

A lifelong member of the New Carlisle community, Lorraine belonged to the Olive Chapel Church, United Commercial Travelers (UTC) and Gleaners.    She is fondly remembered by many in the community for her wedding and graduation cakes, as well as her beautiful quilts. She taught sewing, quilting and cake decorating at 4H, helped tutor students at Rolling Prairie Elementary School through Gleaners, and she sold Dutchmaid clothing with her daughters.  She made the best bean bags for cornhole boards, and delicious cherry and apple slices.

Lorraine is survived by two daughters, Karen (Larry) Kaser of Carmel, Indiana and Nancy (Michael )  Black of Indianapolis, Indiana; a son, Mark (Rochelle) Jones of New Carlisle, Indiana; seven grandchildren, Kimberly (Fred) Iversen, Brian Kaser, Kelly Kaser, Kristen (Nick) Eberenz, Samantha (Fiancé, Patrick Derksen) Jones, Aidan Cotter, Maddox Cotter; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Oscar, Milo, Felix, and Max;  three sisters, Velma Neeley, Donnie Wagoner, and Mary Kaiser; a sister-in-law, Ruth Haag; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Floyd Haag, and a sister, Evelyn Grise.

Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. C.S.T., Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. C.S.T., Thursday, December 30, 2021, at Olive Chapel Church, 32987 State Road 2, New Carlisle, Indiana. All times are C.S.T. Pastor Donald Bayne will officiate. Family and friends may visit from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. C.S.T. Thursday in the church. Burial will follow at Olive Chapel Cemetery.
