Lewis "Lew" J. Kyes Jr

Lewis “Lew” J. Kyes. Jr passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 30, 2025.

Lew was born on July 14, 1956 in Porter County, Indiana to the late Lewis J. Kyes Sr and Lila (Ames) Sweet-Hagenow of La Porte, Indiana.

Lew is survived by his mother; a daughter, Destiny Rose Kyes of La Porte; and a brother, Jim Sweet of La Porte.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Lew was an IT Technician with La Porte Hospital for over 10 years. He then traveled the country setting up hospital administrations with his IT skills. After deciding to stop traveling, Lew worked with the La Porte Community Schools in the IT department until he retired. Lew was a past member of the Board of Directors with the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Chicago; a past member of the Board of Directors and member of the Orak Shrine in Michigan City, Indiana; and a past Master and member of the Masonic Excelsior Lodge #41 in La Porte, Indiana. He volunteered with the Horse and Pony 4-H drill team inspiring many young riders. 

Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

A Masonic service will be at 4PM Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, followed by a time of sharing.
