Larry Wade Obituary

Larry Allen Wade, 86, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021.

Larry was born January 9, 1935, in Denver, Indiana, the son of the late Charlie and Alma Wade.

On March 28, 1964, in Hartford City, Indiana at the Grace Methodist Church, Larry Married Suzan C. Harrison who survives.

He is also survived by his son, Michael (La Von) Wade of Fishers; daughter, Megan (Mark) Taxter of Noblesville; granddaughters, twins Abigail and Brooke Wade, Jenna Wade, Molly and Megan Taxter; his brother, Glen (Jackie) Wade of La Porte; nephews, Jim, Dana (Linda) and Zane (Kim); a sister-in-law, Bridget (Don) Endsley; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gene; and two nephews, Robin and Kyle.

He was a 1952 graduate of La Porte High School.  At age 17 he was a full-time machinist at Allis Chalmer’s Experimental Shop.

Larry served eight years in the Naval Reserves and two years active duty aboard the USS Outpost Radar Picket Ship.  He attended Ball State University, managed Beechwood Senior Men’s Club Golf League for 20 years, 1960-1980.  Larry was also a member of La Porte City Redevelopment Commission Authority Since 1995.  He was the president when he died.  He was a member of the American Legion since 1960, First United Methodist Church since 1945, and he enjoyed many LPHS sports.  Larry fought heart disease and cancer for many years, and he donated his body to Indiana University School of Medicine, Department of Anatomy.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1225 Michigan Ave., LaPorte, Indiana 46350.
