Kimbra Thorpe Obituary

Kimbra Lee Thorpe, passed away peacefully in her home with family on February 1, 2025, in La Porte, Indiana, at the age of 64. Born on December 8, 1960, in Fullerton, California, Kimbra's vibrant spirit and passionate nature touched the lives of all who knew her.

In 1979, Kimbra's life was beautifully entwined with that of Robert "Bob" Thorpe, her beloved husband of nearly 46 years, who survives her. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter. Kimbra's legacy continues through her devoted daughter, Shannon (Adam) Hannon of La Porte, Indiana; her son, Paul Thorpe of Oak Park, Michigan; and her adored grandchildren, Layna and Maya Hannon. She also leaves behind her twin sister, Kindra Stienke of Troy, Michigan, and nephew, Andre Stienke of Clarkston, MI.

Kimbra's father, Reynold Stienke, and her brother, Craig Stienke, preceded her in death, leaving a space that she filled with memories and honor.

Kimbra channeled her creativity and passion into her work as a beautician, a career that allowed her to spread joy and confidence among her clients. Later in life, she embraced the cherished role of Nana, dedicating herself full-time to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Kimbra's interests were a reflection of her loving heart and spirited nature. She loved family dinners that will be remembered for their laughter and storytelling. Her joy stemmed from having her loved ones under the same roof, playing games and being together. Those memories were only surpassed by the love and affection she had for being in the kitchen with the music on and her granddaughters by her side. Kimbra loved fiercely, and her feisty spirit meant that those around her always knew where they stood with her. Kimbra's presence was a gift to her family and friends, and her absence will be deeply felt.

An intimate service and burial will take place on 1 PM (EST) Friday, February 7, 2025 at Christian Memorial Gardens West, 521 E. Hamlin Road, Rochester Hills, Michigan.
