Kathryn A. (Kemmer) Ballard

Kathryn A. Ballard, 70, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Saturday, May 29, 2021. She was born on September 26, 1950, in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Harry and Mary Alice (Hoover) Kemmer.

Kathy graduated from Indiana University with a degree in dental hygiene and worked as a dental hygienist with her husband, Dr. Logan Ballard for many years in La Porte.

Kathy was married to Dr. J. Logan Ballard who survives along with her son, Jeffrey (Kristen) Ballard of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Luke James, Benjamin Erik, Abigail Paige, and David Andrew Ballard; siblings, Kenneth (Laverne) Kemmer of Tallahassee, Florida, Philip (Anna) Kemmer of Lafayette, Indiana, Diana (Robert) Miller of Lexington, Ohio, and Martha Kemmer of Columbus, North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Ballard, and an infant brother, Steven Kemmer.

Kathy loved her family. She was a very generous woman, enjoyed giving gifts to people, and was known for her compassion for people who were hurting. In her younger years she played tennis. Throughout her life she was a lover of animals, particularly cardinals, ducks, butterflies, dogs, and cats. In her later years she particularly enjoyed spending time at New Buffalo beach and going to the movies. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A private service was held. Arrangements have been entrusted to, Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel in La Porte.
