Joseph (Joe) Solmos Obituary

Joseph (Joe) Solmos, 88, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Thursday, May 18, 2023. He was born on April 6, 1935, to Charles and Irene (Nemeth) Solmos.

Joseph was a member of Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Church in La Porte. He was in the United States Army in a GI Bill and he graduated from Purdue University with a teaching degree. He was a teacher in the La Porte Community Schools for over 30 years spending many years leading the Building Trades program. He also was an assistant wrestling coach under Larry McKeever.

On November 11, 1961, Joseph married Arlene Cota who preceded him in death on February 24, 2023. He is survived by her children, Michele (Phillip) Solmos-Zwickl of Boston, Massachusetts, Michael (Ronna) Solmos of Denver, Colorado, Colleen (Jim) Faulkner of Jefferson City, Missouri, Tricia (Bill) Turner of Indianapolis, Indiana, Joele (Rich) Jones of Melbourne, Florida and Kris (Christina) Solmos of Columbus, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a sister, Lynn (Richard) Moe of Yuba City, California. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Evelyn Lenick, Charles Solmos, Gene Solmos, Mary Buzzell, and Donald Solmos.

Cremation has taken place with Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home Essling Chapel in La Porte, Indiana.
