Joseph Richard Blake

Joseph Richard Blake, 76 of La Porte, Indiana passed away Friday, December 12, 2025.

He was born on September 30, 1949 in La Porte, Indiana to the late Richard Sherman Blake and Janet Joan (Groman).

Joe is survived by his daughters, Christina Schmitt of La Porte and Joanna Blake of Noblesville, Indiana; grandchildren, Alex and Andrew Schmitt; and a niece, Alicia DeMunk.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Kathleen DeMunk.

Joe was a Quality Inspector with Modine Manufacturing in La Porte for 32 years and then with Sullair until he retired.

He was a member of the PRCU, PNA, and FOE all in La Porte. Joe played softball for Modine’s men’s softball league and coached both of his daughters in softball. Joe had a colorful personality, a “Real Pistol”.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-7 PM Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
