Jonathan "John" Frank Harenza

Jonathan “John” Frank Harenza of New Carlisle, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 49.

John was born on February 1, 1976, in La Porte, Indiana, to Ron and Judy (Bennitt) Harenza.

He graduated from New Prairie High School in 1994, where he proudly played football. John also participated in Pop Warner Football in La Porte.

On July 7, 2001, John married the love of his life, Holly DeYoung. Together they shared 24 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with two sons, Hayden, 19, and Brock, 16, who were the light of his life. Following high school, John joined Plumbers Local #172, continuing a proud family tradition as a third-generation member. He became a certified welder and plumber and dedicated many years of service working for Dye Mechanical before later joining D. A. Dodd.

John found his greatest joy in watching his sons play sports and supporting them every step of the way. He also shared a lifelong passion for Corvettes with his dad and Uncle Mike, and cherished the time he spent enjoying his 1967 and 1971 Corvettes.

A man of faith, John was a member of Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church, and St. John Kanty Church. He was also a member of the PNA. John held a special love for Disney World, which he fondly referred to as his “happy place.” In honor of his memory, the family invites those attending to wear Disney attire if they wish, knowing it would bring a smile to John’s face. His family finds comfort in believing that John is reunited with his dad, enjoying Disney World once again or playing the mouse game together.

John is lovingly remembered by his wife, Holly; sons, Hayden and Brock; mother, Judy; sister, Tara; mother-in-law, Denise Bromley; sister-in-law, Michelle; and cousins Bret, Darrin, Dana, and Michele. He was preceded in death by his father, Ron Harenza.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the funeral home, with Reverend Alex Kouris officiating.

Friends and family may visit prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish International or Disney for Children.
