John Michael "Mickey" Bozek

John Michael “Mickey” Bozek, age 83, of Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of La Porte, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2026.

John was born on November 16, 1942, in La Porte, Indiana, to the late John V. Bozek and Esther M. Miller.

He graduated from La Porte High School in 1961 and went on to build a long and successful career in the grocery and hospitality industries. He worked for more than 20 years as a manager with National Tea, spent time in the Chicago suburbs with Garofalo’s Grocery, owned Chef’s Deli, and later served as a floor manager at Harrah’s Casino in Las Vegas. John lived in Richton Park, Illinois, for 27 years before relocating to Las Vegas in 1999.

On September 25, 1965, he married the love of his life, Martha “Marty” Sample, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, John cherished time spent with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, proudly cheering for Notre Dame, the Chicago Bears, and the Vegas Golden Knights, and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in their sporting events. John is survived by his wife, Marty; his children, Michael Bozek of Alabama, Melissa Bozek of Reno, Nevada, and Matthew (Sandra) Bozek of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, Adam (Caitlin), Steven (Amy), Jordan (Kiana), Sydney (Zach), Olivia, Mollie, Joseph, and Kaitlyn; and three great-grandchildren, Troy, Patrick, and Elleanor. He is also survived by his sister, Jan Pinkerton of La Porte. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren as a loving and supportive “Paw Paw.”

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Church, 1101 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

Family and friends may gather at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the Mass.

Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
