Joan (Jonas) Sims

Joan Sims, 85, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Monday, April 21, 2025. She was born on September 17, 1939 in La Porte to the late Edwin and Mary (Tesmer) Jonas.

Joan retired as a receiving clerk with the Whirlpool Corporation.

She was a member of Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church in La Porte, the Polish Falcons, and enjoyed bowling. She was a Cubs fan!

On September 28, 1972 she married Hershel G. Sims who preceded her in death on February 12, 1977.

Surviving is a son, John (Marti) Popyk of Ann Arbor, Michigan; a sister, Barbara Kasper of La Porte, Indiana; and nieces and nephews.

A brother, Donald Jonas preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 1 PM to 1:30 PM on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

A funeral service will begin at 1:30 PM following the visitation in the Funeral Home. Deacon Bob Wellinski will officiate.

Burial will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery.
