Jimmy Scott Obituary

Jimmy M. Scott, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2024, in Michigan City, Indiana, at the age of 84. Born on January 1, 1940, in Black Star, Kentucky, to the late Enos Scott and Carol Prisilla Hanschell, Jimmy was a beacon of faith and joy to all who knew him. Jimmy's life was marked by a profound love for his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Vivian Killgrove Scott, whom he married on January 25, 2020. His legacy lives on through his daughters, Carol Eddy (James Edwin) of La Porte, Barb Klein (Reuben) of La Porte, and Cheryl Shepherd of Trail Creek. He was a proud grandfather to Markie, Shane, Brandon, Amber, Stacy, Paula, Matthew, and Jessica, and a doting great-grandfather to Elijah, Markayla, Markis, Myles, Kacy, Elisie, Taylor, Athena, Zicario, Romeo, and Daylon. Jimmy is also remembered by his siblings, Betty White (Mike) of Corbin, Kentucky, and Tony Jo Hibbard (Sharon) of London, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Scott who died March 22, 2018; and siblings, Charles Scott, Doug Scott, Mike Hibbard, Don Hibbard, Regina Hobbs, Wayne Hibbard, and Ruth Warren. After a fulfilling career, Jimmy retired from American Foods as a Chauffeur and later from the La Porte Hospital's laundry department. His strong work ethic and dedication to service were evident in all he did. Jimmy was also an active member of the First Pentecostal Church in La Porte, where he deepened his faith and formed lasting friendships. Jimmy's passion for life was infectious. He was a man who found immense joy in the simplicities of the world around him. An avid reader of the Bible, Jimmy's faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He was a faith-filled man whose trust in God guided him through life's journey. His adventurous spirit led him to embrace the beauty of the outdoors. Jimmy loved kayaking, walking in the woods, and sitting by a lake, finding peace in the tranquility of nature. His 25-mile bike rides were a testament to his vigor and zest for life. Jimmy's appreciation for the world's beauty was also evident in his love for watching sunrises and sunsets, moments he often shared with his loved ones. Those who knew Jimmy would describe him as a man of great passion. Whether it was his dedication to his family, his commitment to his faith, or his enjoyment of nature's wonders, Jimmy approached every aspect of life with enthusiasm and a warm heart. His presence was a source of strength and inspiration, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. As the sun sets on the life of Jimmy M. Scott, we are reminded of the enduring light he cast upon the world. His journey on earth may have ended, but his legacy of love, faith, and adventure will continue to guide us for generations to come.
