Helenann (Hemphill) Tressmer

Helenann Tressmer, 82 of Hamlet, Indiana passed away Thursday, September 5, 2024.

She was born on September 14, 1941 in La Porte, Indiana to Otto and Bernadette (Beckerich) Hemphill.

Helenann was a Nurse Manager with the former La Porte Hospital until her retirement in 2004. She graduated from Holy Cross School of Nursing in South Bend as a Registered Nurse. She was a Past President of the La Porte Retires organization, Past President of the Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame which she helped found and was an inductee. She was an avid bowler having participated in many state and national tournaments. Helenann and her husband loved to travel, having visited all 50 states and several countries in Europe.

On April 16, 1966, Helenann married Norman Tressmer who survives with her sister, Kathleen (Allan) Lind of Anderson, Indiana; a brother, Patrick (Dorothy) Hemphill of La Porte; and seven nieces and nephews.

Helenann was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Michelle Tressmer; and a brother, Michael O. Hemphill.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:45 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph Church, 109 C. Street, La Porte, Indiana. Family and friends may gather at 10 AM Wednesday in the funeral home prior to the Mass. 

Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in La Porte.
