Harold "Les" Leslie Shei

Harold “Les” Leslie Shei, of Hanna, Indiana passed on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at the age of 98. Les was born on May 29, 1924, in LaPorte County to Arthur and Mary Mae (James) Shei.

On November 19, 1944, he married Rose Mary Mills who preceded him in death on April 6, 2017.

He was a lifelong resident and farmer in Southern LaPorte County. He also was a bus driver for South Central Schools during the 60s. He enjoyed his farm, family and traveling with his wife, Rose Mary.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Kenneth Shei and Donald Shei as well as sisters, Bernice Perschke and Carol Bealor. He was also preceded in death by son, James Shei and great-granddaughter, Kaitlynn Shei.

Les is survived by one son, John (Connie) Shei of LaPorte; one daughter, Mary Beth Harness (Jerry Huber) of Hanna; and daughter-in-law Cheryl Shei of Hanna. He has six grandchildren, Jason Shei, Nathan Shei, Jenifer (Randy) Filo, Casi (Brian) Garner, Kristen Barrett, and Allison (Chris) Weaver; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Maxine (Gerald) Lawrence, Joan Werner, Delores Games; and brother-in-law, Louis Perschke.

Visitation will be Friday, April 21, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Ave, LaPorte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wanatah, Indiana. Burial will follow in the Hanna Cemetery.
