Gene Edward O'Connor

Gene Edward O’Connor, 87, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022.

Gene was born October 25, 1934 in Chesterton, Indiana to the late William and Christine (Rhoda) O’Connor.

On February 12, 1999, Gene married Marilyn Crouse who survives along with their children, Gene Alan O’Connor of Burns Harbor, Indiana, Christine (Pete) Muller of La Porte, Indiana, Patrick (Sherry) O’Connor of La Porte, Indiana, Steve (Kim) Siebe of Rolling Prairie, Indiana, Cheryl (Joe) Asbury of La Porte, Indiana, Lisa (Scott) Shiveley of St. Joseph, Michigan, and Jeff (Laura) Siebe of Louisville, Kentucky;  grandchildren, Monica (Andy) Gauer, Andrew (Mandy) Muller, Sarah (Chris) Hunt, Haley (Brian) Witt, Tyler Asbury, Hali Nepsha, and Josh, Ben and Olivia Siebe; great-grandchildren, Celeste and Terra Gauer, Andersen Muller, Connor and Oliver Hunt, and Jade and Ellie Witt; and four nephews, David, Ken, Jeff and Jim.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Christopher O’Connor; a brother, Robert O’Connor and a daughter-in-law, Cindy O’Connor.

Gene held several jobs and was most proud of his time spent as a local farmer.  He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, and square dancing.  Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Holy Family Parish, St. Peter Catholic Church, 1101 Michigan Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. Reverend Nate Edquist will officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery.
