Fredericus (Fred) J.A. Van der Peet

Fredericus (Fred) J. A. Van der Peet, 80 of La Porte, Indiana passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019.  Fred was born July 13, 1938, in Alkmaar, Holland to Cornelis & Catharina (Hes) Van der Peet.

Mr. Van der Peet retired from Howmet.  However, his true passion was piano tuning supporting the La Porte community and surrounding areas for more than 40 years.

On August 25, 1962 Fred married Cornelia M. Buter.  Corrie preceded him in death on February 16, 2007.  Surviving is a daughter, Gabriella (Eric) Van der Peet of La Porte; sons, Matt (Rita) Van der Peet of Seattle, Washington and Fred (Belinda) Van der Peet of Solon, Ohio; six grandchildren, Marcus, Jacob, Blake, Morgann, Hannah and Mary.  Fred was one of nine siblings, many of whom still reside in Holland. Fred was an avid fan of the World Cup and Tour de France. He also enjoyed his coffee, a good cigar, The Weather Channel and classic movies. But most of all he enjoyed his time with his grandchildren. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 2018 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be at 6 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, February 18, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church of which he was a member.  Reverend Ian Williams will officiate. Family and friends may gather on Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the Mass.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
