Freddie Lee Ames, Sr., 84 of Union Mills, Indiana with a winter home in Davenport, Florida, passed away of natural causes on November 19, 2019 at his home in Davenport, Florida.
Freddie was born on March 26, 1935 at his home in Hanna, Indiana to the late, Fred & Laura (Smith) Ames. On January 10, 1959 he married Carol May Koontz in Bourbon, Indiana.
Freddie graduated from Union Mills High School in Union Mills, Indiana. He retired as an Operating Engineer from Local 150 and was a farmer and truck driver. He served his country in the Army, stationed in Alaska as a Specialist 3.
Freddie was a member of Hanna United Methodist Church, Kingsbury Masonic Lodge #222 F.&A.M and The American Legion Post 295, Union Mills.
Freddie is survived by his wife Carol Ames; siblings, Angeline (Gene-deceased) Mrozinski, Claude & Sandy (Koontz) Ames; children, Freddie Ames, Jr. (Alice Church), Dwight (Jody) Ames, Stephen (April) Ames, Sr., Patrick (Patricia) Ames, Karen (Johnny) Mullins II; grandchildren, Freddie Ames III, Matthew (Randi) Ames, Karen Ames, Tamara (Ronaldo) Bittencourt, Mike (Ashley) Ennis, Laura Ames, Nicholas Ames, Kristen Ames (Joseph Suter), Stephen (Brittany) Ames, Jr., Sarah Ames, Ryan (Carrie) Boyce, Emily (Josue) Raya, Kyle Ames, Renee Ames; great grandchildren, : Bruno Bittencourt, Lucas Bittencourt, Vanessa Ames, Addison Ames, Haylie Ames, Colson Smith, Isaac Suter, Noah Suter, Chloe Ames, Weston Ames, Connor Ames, Harper Boyce, and Natalie Boyce.
He was preceded in death by, his parents; a sister, Hazel (Charles) Graves; and great grandchildren, Kayla Ames and Kayden Ames.
Visitation will be Friday, November 29, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana 46350, where a Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home where family and friends may visit from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Pastor Jim Denton will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Mills Cemetery with military honors.
