Fran (Kier) Thompson

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Fran Thompson, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on November 26, 2024 surrounded by family.

Born in Tangier, Morocco, on April 7, 1953, Fran began her journey into this world as a fighter, overcoming Scarlet Fever as an infant and continuing to face life's challenges with unyielding strength until her final days.

Fran was preceded in death by her beloved husbands Joe Gniadek and Jeff Thompson, and her cherished parents, Kenneth and Angie Kier. She is survived by her three children, Monica McCombs (and her “favorite son-in-law” John), Kenny Thompson, and Brie Thompson, whom she adored wholeheartedly. Her legacy of love and laughter also lives on through her siblings: Angie Kier, Aimee Lincicome, John Kier, Kenny Kier, and Marta Kier.

Fran never met a stranger. Her warmth was felt through her spontaneous hugs, her infectious laugh, and the joy she brought to everyone she encountered. She lived for life's simple pleasures: baking treats, music, attending concerts, cherishing her fur grandbabies, taking long walks, making snow angels, celebrating the 4th of July, and sharing time with her dear friends. A social butterfly, she was always up for a good party.

She held a special place in her heart for our nation’s veterans and was deeply proud of their service. In honor of Fran's memory, her family requests donations be made to the VFW or American Kidney Fund in lieu of flowers.

Fran was taken from us far too soon, but her radiant spirit and unwavering love will forever remain in our hearts. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service will be held at 3 PM Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Ave. Visitation will be from 1PM until time of service at the funeral home on Sunday.
