Evart M. Carpenter

Evart M. Carpenter, 74, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2019.

Evart was born June 1, 1945 in Traverse City, Michigan to the late Etron Martin and Edna May (Crouch) Carpenter.

Evart was employed with Joy Manufacturing in Michigan City in production control for over 20 years and retired from Aero Metals in La Porte after more than 15 years.  He enjoyed his grandchildren, great-granddaughter, and woodworking. Evart was a 42-year life member of the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department. During that period he served the following positions; Chief, president of the Board of Directors, equipment committee and building and ground committee for the old and new fire stations. He served his country in the U.S. Army.

On May 20, 1967 Evart married Jackie Ciucci who survives along with a daughter, Carol A. Russell of La Porte, Indiana; a son, John C. Carpenter of Fleming Island, Florida; five grandchildren, Britne (Willie) Netzer, Nathan (Brittany) Carpenter, Desirae Carpenter, Kelsey Russell, and Dylan Carpenter; one great-granddaughter, Paisley Netzer; siblings, Ella (John) Finster, Evelyn Lozmack, Edward (Janet) Carpenter, Eugene (Deborah) Carpenter, Eileen (Dan) Wallace,  and Enid (Todd) Cokinos; and a special nephew and niece, Kyle (Jessica) Knoll and Kimberly (Mark) Lopes.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Etron Carpenter.

A Celebration of life will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the Center Township Volunteer Fire Department, 4504 W. Johnson Road, La Porte, Indiana 46350.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
