Edward R. Kluge

Retired Corporate Pilot, Captain Edward R. Kluge, 83, of La Porte, Indiana passed away surrounded by his awesome family on Friday, December 17, 2021. Edward was born on November 30, 1938, to Edward L. and Charlotte L. (Kunze) Kluge.

Edward, faithful husband, is survived by his wife Shirley. They were married for 62 1/2 years. Also surviving are their children, Donna (Clarence) Barenie and their daughter, Rachel (Phillip); Gale (Jon) Houseknecht and their children, Jonale (Chet), Aarie (Josh), Cody (Brittany), Colt (Riley); Patty (Robert) Kluge and her children, Hannah (Stephen), Gideon (Kylie), Bruce (Deonna) Kluge and their children, Drake and Sage; and six great grandchildren. Edward was preceded in death by siblings, Larry Kluge, Joanne Daily, and James Kluge.

Edward served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He retired as a Captain with Corporate Aviation after 38 years. He was a member of the First Church of God in La Porte, a member of the La Porte County Sheriff’s Merit Board, the NRA, and the Confederate Air Force. He was an avid collector, especially antique toy tractors.  He enjoyed tractor pulls, golf, going to the casino, and playing poker.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 19, 2021, at the First Church of God, 2020 E. Lincolnway, La Porte, Indiana 46350.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel in La Porte, Indiana.
