Doris (Martensen) Bennitt

Mrs. Doris Bennitt, 91, of Sebring, Florida, formerly of Rolling Prairie, Indiana passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025.

Doris was born on November 18, 1933, in Union Township, La Porte County, Indiana to Carl W. and Edith (DeWitt) Martensen.

On December 7, 1957, in South Bend, Indiana she married Foster Bennitt who preceded her in death on March 30, 1995.

Mrs. Bennitt was a factory worker from 1952 until 1987.  She lived in Florida since 1972.  She was a waitress in Avon Park, Florida for 5 years after her retirement in 1987.

Doris is survived by a brother, Herbert Martensen of Montgomery, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Martensen.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; two step-sons, Harry Bennitt Sr. and Richard Bennitt; a step-grandson, Harry “Woody” Bennitt Jr.; a step-granddaughter, Tammy Bennitt; two sisters, Helen Bennitt and Lois Markley; and two brothers, Carl and Norman Martensen.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. C.S.T., Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Olive Chapel Cemetery in New Carlisle, Indiana. Deacon Frank Zolvinski will officiate.
