Donald A. Turner

Donald A. Turner, 85, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Monday, September 25, 2023. He was born on February 26, 1938, in New Buffalo, Michigan to Harry Turner and Ruth (Freyer) Turner Pawlicke. 

On June 8, 1957 Donald married Patricia A. Bush in Michigan City, Indiana. Donald is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Donald Michael Turner, James Turner; daughters, Valerie Dube, Rebecca (Nicholas) Mazzaia, and Elizabeth (Rickey) Scissom; grandchildren, Nicholas L. (Vanessa) Mazzaia III, Theresa (Michael) Mims, Tristan (Cassidy) Turner, Katelyn Ann Marie Scissom, Samantha Elizabeth Scissom; great grandchildren, Issac, Oliver, and Hunter Mims, Finn Mazzaia, and Karson Turner; and special friends, Joe Cooper, Dave Gohn, Roger Kessler, and Dave Wegiel. He was preceded in death by his parents; step father, Alex Pawlicke; a son, Jeffrey; and two brothers. 

Donald retired from the Michigan City Police Department, and from Sullair UTC, and also worked for the Priests of the Congregation of Holy Cross at the La Porte Center. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #75, and Holy Cross Parish, Sacred Heart Church in La Porte. 

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:45 p.m. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 29, 2023, at Holy Family Parish, Sacred Heart Church, 201 Bach Street, La Porte. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home at 9 a.m. on Friday prior to the Mass. Private burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Otis, Indiana.
