Don Hardy

Don Hardy, 89, of Rolling Prairie, Indiana passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022.

Don was born December 29, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Edgar and Emma (Godbout) Hardy.

On September 15, 1962, Don married Barbara (Hedberg) who survives along with his daughters, Susan (Gerald) Cook Jr. of La Porte, Indiana and Lisa Foster of Rolling Prairie, Indiana; grandchildren, Ryan Foster of Rolling Prairie, Matthew Foster of Rolling Prairie, Geoffrey Cook of Michigan City, Indiana; great grandchildren, Destinee Chavez of La Porte, and Sophia Foster of La Porte; and a brother, James Hardy of Michigan City, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Robert Vaillancourt, Rita Kitzman, and Richard Hardy.

Don was a draftsman (technical drawing) of many varied products including home-built aircraft. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and had been active in the La Porte Aero Club. He enjoyed flying his classic Piper J3 Cub. Don was known to family and neighbors as a man who could repair practically anything and was always ready to help. He also enjoyed cars, motorcycles, golf, and home carpentry. Don was a veteran and a member of St. John Kanty Catholic Church. 

Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. Wednesday November 16, 2022, at St. John Kanty Cathoilc Church in Rolling Prairie, Indiana.
