David John Pietz

David John Pietz, 71, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

David was born December 29, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Vernon John Pietz and May Laura (Ball) Pietz-Behrend. 

David served his country in the United States Navy as a 20 year Reservist. He graduated from Southern Illinois University and taught elementary and high school. He taught school in Chicago, Great Lakes, and Argentina. He was also a master craftsman.

David is survived by a daughter, Carolina Alveraz of Syracuse, Utah; a son, Jonathan Pietz of Syracuse, Utah; grandchildren, Leah, Leo, Catalina, and Mia; a sister, Linda (Skip) Theede of New Middletown, Indiana; a brother, Douglas E. Pietz of Evanston, Illinois; a niece, Rachael Yergen; and a special friend, Gina Eckert of La Porte.

Cremation has taken place with Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
