Daniel Lewis Wood

Daniel Lewis Wood, 59, of La Porte, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. He was born on December 28, 1963, in South Bend to Gregory (Linda) Wood of Florida and Elvira (Reyes) Peppers of New Carlisle. 

Daniel had worked as a Supervisor with Carris Reels Inc. in New Carlisle for over 30 years.

Surviving are his parents; his wife, Joveda (Hancock) Wood who he married on April 16, 1988; a son, Kody (Sara) Wood of La Porte; a daughter, Jaime Wood of Lenoir City, Tennessee; (daughters), Kalynn & Zoey Caudill; grandchildren, Raelyn and Jaxsen Banghart, Eliza and Kai Wood, and Brooklynn Corbett; a sister, Terri (Kevin) Brugh of Arizona; and a brother, William (Donna) Wood of New Carlisle, including many nieces and nephews.  

Daniel’s love and passion for his children and grandchildren was his whole world. He loved coaching his son and other children in Little League baseball. He was a foster parent for many years and took in over 22 foster kids.  

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 7, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Friday following the visitation in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
