Charles Kenneth Ken Schnable

Charles Kenneth “Ken” Schnable, 78, of LaPorte, Indiana passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2021.

Ken was born March 5, 1943, in Tampa, Florida to the late Charles Kenneth and Juanita (Jones) Schnable.

On August 29, 1964, Ken married Eleanore A. “Ellie” Malec, in Terre Coupe, Indiana who preceded him in death on February 7, 2021.

He is survived by his two sons, K. Dirk (Amy Tomczak) Schnable and William Brook (Francisca Thompson) Schnable both of LaPorte; sister, Judith (Schnable) Whitaker of Hammond, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellie; infant daughter, Theresa Schnable; his parents; and sister Kathleen (Schnable) Bachert.

Ken was the President of Schnable Alarm Systems, Inc.; a 32-year veteran of LaPorte Fire Department, 16 years as Battalion Chief and 4 years as Fire Chief; owner of Juanita’s Beauty Salon; and owner of Schnable’s Software Solutions.  He served in the United States Air Force from March 8, 1962, to March 8, 1966, and attained the rank of A/2C. He was a member of Knights of Columbus - Saint Michaels Council; The American Legion Post 83; Society of American Magicians; LaPorte Eagles Arie 2439; Past President of LaPorte Lions Club; and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in LaPorte.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. followed by a Memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, LaPorte, Indiana. A Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m.
