Charles "Charlie" Mullins, 69, a man known for his adventurous spirit and vibrant sense of humor, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, in La Porte, Indiana.
Born on January 16, 1956, in Swampton, Kentucky, Charlie's zest for life and his ability to make the most of every moment left a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who knew him.
Charlie was the cherished son of Jasper and Ellaree (Hale) Mullins, who both predeceased him. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Sue Mullins, who was his companion on many of his life's journeys until her passing in 2019. Charlie's love and legacy live on through his stepchildren, Carol (Ken) Emerick of Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Hershel Weathers of La Porte, and Kevin (Trish) Weathers of La Porte.
His joy was multiplied by his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who were the lights of his life, and a very special friend, Tina Brewer of Portage, Indiana. He is survived by his siblings, Judy Moore of Salyersville, Kentucky, Brenda (Stephen) Arnett of Salyersville, Kentucky, Jerry Collins of Saylersville, Kentucky, Barbara (Terry) Salyer of Salyersville, Kentucky, and Crystal (Steven) Tackett of Salyersville, Kentucky. Each of them holds precious memories of Charlie that they will treasure forever.
Charlie was a graduate of his local high school and spent his working years dedicated to his job as a factory worker. His strong work ethic and his involvement in various associations showcased his commitment to his community and his desire to contribute positively to the world around him.
His interests were as varied as his personality; he was a man who was set in his ways and did things on "Charlie time," yet he was always ready for the next adventure. He had a passion for the outdoors, and alongside his wife, Sue, he spent many years traveling in their RV, exploring the country they loved so much. Despite his travels, Kentucky remained his true home at heart.
Charlie also had a talent for woodworking, a hobby that allowed him to create and share tangible pieces of his spirit. Country music, video games, and especially time spent with his beloved dog, Ginger, filled his leisure moments with joy and relaxation.
Those who knew Charlie will remember him as a man who was adventurous, spirited, and funny. He approached life with a unique blend of determination and lightheartedness, and his presence was a source of laughter and love for everyone around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
