Carol May (Koontz) Ames, 89, of Union Mills, Indiana passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023. Carol was born on July 27, 1934, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Alvin C. Koontz and Ethel Marie Thacker.
She graduated high school and then Business School. She worked as a secretary for Bye-Mo'R for over 20 years. She married the love of her life Freddie Lee Ames January 10, 1959, and they had five children together. She was a member of Hanna United Methodist Church.
Carol is survived by her four sons, Freddie (Alice) Ames, Jr, of La Porte, Indiana, Stephen (April) Ames Sr. of La Porte, Indiana, Dwight (Jody) Ames of Union Mills, Patrick (Patricia) Ames of Davenport, Florida; one daughter, Karen (Johnny) Mullins II of La Porte, Indiana; grandchildren, Freddie Ames III, Matthew (Randi) Ames, Karen Ames, Tamara (Ronaldo) Bitencourt, Mike (Ashley) Ennis, Laura (Vincent) Nguyen, Kristen (Joseph) Suter, Stephen (Brittany) Ames Jr, Sarah (Eric) O'Brien, Ryan (Carrie) Boyce, Emily (Josue) Raya, Kyle Ames, Renee (Zachary) Wilson; great grandchildren, Bruno, Lorenzo, Lucas, Chloe, & Julia Bitencourt, Addison, Haylie, Vanessa, Weston, Grant, & Connor Ames, Coleson Smith, Isaac, Noah Suter, Harper, & Natalie Boyce, Alvin Raya, Aiden, & Elias Nguyen; and one brother, Alvin Eugene Koontz.
She was preceded in death by her parents: husband Freddie; grandson, Nicholas Ames; great grandchildren, Kayla & Kayden Ames: a sister, Melba Fetters; and a brother, Gerald Koontz.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, where family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the time of services. Burial will follow at Union Mills Cemetery.
