It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Bernadette Katherine (Guros) Bailey, who left this world peacefully on July 31, 2025, at the age of 80.

Born on February 18, 1945, in Gary, Indiana, Bernadette—affectionately known as Berna—was a vibrant and compassionate woman who touched the lives of all who knew her.

After graduating from high school, Berna began a short

career as a hairdresser, where her creativity and warmth made her a favorite among clients. She later built a successful career with Conrail, where she was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, and professionalism. Berna was kind to everyone she met, and her generous spirit left a lasting mark on friends, family, and her community. She was a deeply motivated and successful woman, always busy and full of energy. Whether she was traveling, enjoying time with loved ones, or lending a helping hand, Berna lived life with enthusiasm and purpose. She also had a deep love for animals and supported their care throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Bailey; her brother Robert Guros; her parents, Viola and Jacob Guros; and her nephew-in-law Steven Kuiphoff. She is survived by her loving brother Joseph Guros; sister-in-laws Sally Guros and Helen Guros; and her cherished nieces and nephews: Lori (Guros) Kuiphoff, Michael Guros, Carrie (Guros) Narkis, and Joshua Guros. She is also lovingly remembered by her stepchildren: Margery Sabolsky, Robert Bailey, and Jenny Norton. She leaves behind her adored great-nieces and great-nephew: Jessica (Kuiphoff) Daily, Amanda (Kuiphoff) Graves, Cassidy Guros, Megan Kuiphoff, Jacob Narkis, and Kaitlyn Narkis, along with many other beloved friends and extended family members.

Berna’s strength, warmth, and joyful spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed.
