Benjamin L. Porter, D.M.D.

Benjamin L. Porter, D.M.D., 40, of LaPorte, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023 after a lengthy illness complicated by Crohn’s disease. He was born September 28, 1982 to David Porter and
Nancy Jean (Lanigan).

Ben is a graduate of LaPorte High School. He held a Bachelor degree in Kinesiology from Indiana University and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of
Louisville School of Dentistry. Ben worked briefly with his father at Porter Family Dentistry and with Dr. Robert Grace at the LaPorte Community Dental Center.

Early in life Ben developed a passion for cooking and traveling. He loved cooking holiday meals and being with family. Over time he traveled to England, Scotland, Ireland, Canada, Mexico,
Italy, and Thailand. He also had an interest in Biblical Archeology, history, weight lifting and working out at the YMCA. Ben competed in shot put on the track team in high school and
made it to the State Finals. He also competed in college for a year.

Ben is survived by his wife, Lejla (Rozajac) Porter, his father David Porter, D.D.S., a sister Elaine (Tom) Perez of Batavia, Illinois; and a brother, Samuel (Jacqueline) Porter of Taylor Mill,
Kentucky. He also leaves behind his beloved bulldogs, Velvet and Coco.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Jean Porter.

Ben knew that Jesus Christ was his Savior, and it was He who decided Ben had struggled enough on this Earth. We entrust Ben to our merciful Savior.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue LaPorte, Indiana.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with burial in Pine Lake Cemetery.
