Ann Louise Campbell, a cherished mother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024, in her hometown of La Porte, the same place where her story began on February 29, 1944. Known affectionately as Ann, she was the beloved daughter of the late Merle and Miriam (Gidley) Campbell, a lineage of love and legacy that she carried forward with grace and dignity throughout her life.
Ann's journey was marked by her devotion to her family, her passion for her work, and her love of life's simple pleasures. She is survived by her son, Jason Schomaker of La Porte; her brother, Don (Penny) Campbell of Atlanta; and her nephew, Brent (Chi) Campbell, who will carry forward her stories and wisdom. A special friend, Patty Duffy, also survives her, a testament to the enduring bonds of friendship Ann cultivated.
Ann's educational journey included her graduation from high school followed by some college, where she honed the skills that would serve her well in her professional life. As a bookkeeper, Ann was known for her meticulous attention to detail and her unwavering integrity. Her colleagues respected her intelligence and her spirited approach to her work, and she was equally dedicated to her involvement in various associations, where she made lasting contributions through her passionate engagement.
Beyond the world of numbers and ledgers, Ann was a vivacious reader, finding solace and adventure in the pages of books. Her love for gardening allowed her to create beauty and tranquility in her surroundings, reflecting the vibrant spirit she carried within. Ann also had an affinity for old movies, their timeless stories echoing her own appreciation for the narratives of the past. Fashion was another of Ann's interests, her sense of style as intelligent and spirited as she was.
Ann's essence can be best described by three words: intelligent, spirited, and passionate. These qualities not only defined her but also illuminated the lives of those around her. Ann's life was a tapestry of love, learning, and legacy. As we say our farewells, we celebrate the indelible mark she left on our hearts and the world she so deeply cherished. Ann Louise Campbell will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us in the days to come.
