Sue (Bugg) DeGroote

Sue DeGroote, 81, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017. Sue was born June 26, 1935 in Perryville, Kentucky to James and Bessie Bugg. On April 30, 1960, Sue married Charles William DeGroote, who preceded her in death on August 21, 2008.

Sue was a bookkeeper for the Revers Company in La Porte and volunteered for many years at the La Porte Hospital. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, and the Lions Club, where she actively participated in service trips to Mexico to fit people for glasses.

Sue is survived by a daughter, Kimberly DeGroote of La Porte; sons, Timothy (Jennifer) DeGroote of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Jeffrey (Carolyn) DeGroote of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren include, Haleigh and Michaela Miller, Evan, Spencer, Christopher, Katherine, and Charlie DeGroote; a sister, Louise Hopper of Hana, Indiana; and a brother, J. B. (Barb) Bugg of La Porte. Sisters, Hazel Monroe, Mabel Decker, and Judy Sauter all preceded her in death.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM Thursday, June 22, 2017, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:45 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, June 23, 2017, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Family and friends may gather at 9 AM Friday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, the American Heart Association, or St. Peter Catholic Church in La Porte.
