Julia D. (Cabrera) Almaraz

Julia D. Almaraz, 71, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, surrounded by her loving family.  Julia was born November 27, 1946, in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico to the late Lucio Cabrera and Carmen Garza.  She was a QMA for 20 years. 

On March 13, 1965, Julia married Joe W. Almaraz who survives.  Julia is also survived by her children, Alice (Bruce) Holmquest of La Porte, Patsy (Dan) Jones of Chesterton, Josette (Bill) Lott of La Porte, Denise (Adrian) Shultz of Union Mills; a son-in-law, Richard Nona; grandchildren, Raeanne & Jeromey Holmquest, Daniel & Jasmine Nona, Olivia & Will Lott, Alex & Jake Schultz; great grandchildren, Claire & Henry Nona; a sister, Sandra (Sam) Rodriguez of Sun City Center, Florida; and brothers, John (Becky) Cabrera of Schererville, Indiana, Raul (Roseanne) Cabrera of Wanatah, and Richard (Elda) Cabrera of Riverview, Florida.  

Julia was a member of St. Joseph Parish in La Porte and graduated from Edison High School in Gary, Indiana.

Visitation will be 4 -7 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in La Porte.  Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.
