Helen Theresa (Swieca) Zawada

Helen Theresa Zawada, 67, of La Porte, Indiana passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 5, 2019.

Helen was born July 10, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to George and Dorothy (Matijeszyn) Swieca.

On November 10, 1973 Helen married Frank J. Zawada who survives.

Helen was a Post Office Clerk in La Porte for 25 years and a member of the American Postal Workers Union, (APWU, AFL-CIO).  She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she was involved in many activities over the years.

Helen is survived by her husband; a son, Stephen (Shawna) Zawada of La Porte, Indiana; a daughter, Katherine (Jason) Tucek of Crystal Lake, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Joseph Tucek, Madelyn Tucek, David Tucek, Sarah Tucek, Timothy Tucek, Ella Zawada, and Reid Zawada; and a cousin, Ron Swieca of Naperville, Illinois.

Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana. A Parish Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 11, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte.  Reverend Ian Williams will officiate. Family and friends may gather Monday from 9-9:45 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the Mass.  Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery.
