Helen A. (Jankowski) Manering

Helen A. Manering, 95 of La Porte, Indiana passed away Saturday, April 27, 2019. Helen was born August 20, 1923 in Michigan City, Indiana to Stanley and Stella (Boza) Jankowski.  She was a bookkeeper for Mr. Furniture, Pure Oil Company, Vogler’s Distributors, Essling Funeral Home, the Rumely Hotel, Shaffer Tire and was a homemaker. 

On April 19, 1947, Helen married Harrison A. Manering who preceded her in November of 1973.

Helen was preceded by her parents; husband; a daughter, Mary Beth; and brothers, Frank and Xavier (George) Jankowski.

Surviving are her sons, Steven (Susan) Manering and Mark (Linda) Manering of LA Porte; grandchildren, Brian, Christopher, Clay and Adam Manering; step grandchildren, Heather, Allen, and Catherine; and six great grandchildren. 

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2019 at St. Peter Catholic Church in La Porte.  Reverend Ian Williams will officiate.  Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. in the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will follow in Pine Lake Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the La Porte High School Athletic Fund or the Kiwanis Club.
