Donald Hunter Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we are announcing Don M. Hunter peacefully passed on Monday, November 18, 2019 after a long illness.  He was at peace with God and surrounded by his loving family throughout his final days.  Don was an amazing husband to Linda, father to Jeff, Tim, and Shannon, grandfather to six, father-in-law, uncle to thirteen nieces and nephews, cousin, and friend to many.  Don was loved, admired, and adored by seemingly everyone.

Don was born in Chicago on July 11, 1937, and a few years later moved to NW Indiana.  From a very young age he worked hard to help his family, and this trait remained with him throughout his entire eighty-two years.  He proudly graduated from Hanna High School, and soon thereafter joined the U.S. Marine Corps.  Don was a proud Leatherneck, and was fond of celebrating birthday parties for his beloved Corps.  Semper Fi!

On June 18, 1960 Don wed Linda Allen, and theirs was an amazing relationship until Linda's passing in 2016.  Their romance was a great example of selfless love, and Don mourned her loss every moment of every day until his own passing.  Don was self-employed for the last forty-six years, and during that time he owned and operated multiple businesses including retail, manufacturing, and e-commerce.  The primary businesses were La Porte Tool Supply in La Porte and City Tool Supply in Michigan City.  His entrepreneurial spirit is one of his many wonderful legacies.  So many wonderful things could be said about him, and his family and loved ones are blessed to have so many funny, and endearing memories to cherish.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.  Don and Linda were pet lovers, and greatly appreciated the fine work of the La Porte County Animal Shelter.  Donations may be made in their name in support of this very important part of our community.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana.
