Charles A. Mares

Charles A. Mares, 68, of La Porte, Indiana passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, in a house fire at his residence.  Charles was born January 17, 1949, in Oak Park, Illinois to George J. Mares Sr. and Rosemary A. Petrik.  He was the owner of Charles Mares hardware store in New Carlisle, Indiana. 

Charles is survived by brothers, George (Ann) Mares Jr. of La Porte, Indiana, Paul (Anthony Britz) Mares of Louisville, Tennessee; nephews and nieces, Deborah Lee, George Mares, Joseph Mares, and Paulette Mares. 

Charles was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Michael council # 1542 in La Porte, Mater Christi Catholic Church in North Riverside, Illinois, and attended St. Joseph Parish in La Porte.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday, December 17, 2017, at Frank L. Keszei Funeral Home, Essling Chapel, 1117 Indiana Avenue, La Porte, Indiana, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2017, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in La Porte.  Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery.  Family and friends may gather at 9 a.m. in the funeral home on Monday.     

Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus, St. Michael Council # 1542, 412 Lincolnway, La Porte, Indiana 46350.
